The plumbing industry is inundated with housebuilding, home improvements, infrastructure work, commercial renovation, maintenance and more. If you are plumber with experience on the tools looking to become self-employed now is the time!
Whether you are not happy with your earnings, contract or employment or maybe you just want to take control of your time, self-employment is a great route to take. To make the transition you will need an NVQ. As this qualification is what you are ultimately going to need to be considered a fully-qualified plumber in the UK.
How can I achieve an NVQ?
Here at Able Skills training centre we make the process as simple as possible. There are two-steps. Firstly, you will go out and complete a portfolio (We will provide you with a detailed portfolio profiling session where an Assessor will have the opportunity to show you a portfolio and provide details on the kind of work that you need to have accessed). Secondly, you will need to be visited on two occasions by one of our assessors.
Assessor will need to witness:
- 1 bathroom (cold/hot)
- Another bathroom (sanitation) or a heating job
- Decommission 1 system
You will also separately need additional evidence (photos and portfolio completion) of:
- 1 bathroom (cold/hot)
- Another bathroom (sanitation) or a heating job
- Decommission another system
- 6 maintenance jobs
