Industrial construction contracts increase, join the hype and take a Bricklaying Course!
Looking to get into the world of construction? It seems that industrial construction is on the rise. More and more contracts are being awarded. As you would have thought, residential housing is also on the increase, great news for bricklayers. Population growth means new houses being built all over the country!
The value of all industrial construction contract awards in May 2019 was £614m based on a three-month rolling average. The warehousing and storage sector accounted for the largest share of industrial contracts awards with a 51.5% share.
The residential sector again held the largest share of contract awards in May with an attributable share of 42.3%. Infrastructure was the second largest sector this month with awards share of 17.0%, this was followed by the industrial sector with 11.4% overall.
Construction is a great opportunity for young people to get into! Young people put off construction work is down to the stigma around how much workers earn, therefore don't think its a viable career option. This preconception that construction workers aren't earning is ridiculous. In fact, studies have shown that the average university graduate in England earns £32,000 a year; whereas your average brickie is earning £42,000 a year!

For Experienced Workers:
If you are already an experienced Bricklayer but you want to gain a qualification, then we also offer courses for those Experienced Bricklayers who need NVQ. This course will more of a quick route in terms of preparation towards an NVQ. You will not require an assessed to come to your place of work like a normal NVQ Level Bricklaying Course. Instead, you will have your assessment here on site by one of our instructors. You will need to have worked for at least five years in bricklaying to be eligible for this course.
