Engineers in Wales may soon be lining up to take plumbing courses after the government revealed a plan to install heat pumps in many homes in the country.
The scheme entitled 'arbed' will involve £2.5 million being spent on average each month on fitting green technology such as heat pumps.
This may sound alarm bells for professionals hoping to be hired to work on such initiatives, for which they may need to attend plumbing courses.
Assembly member Jocelyn Davies explained that a major part of regenerating communities involves improving their homes and she is delighted to introduce the initiative.
She added: "I am delighted to see this scheme in action, which will have a very real impact on the lives of people involved in the first phase of arbed."
The Welsh assembly government stated in their energy policy statement that it will focus on ensuring economic renewal opportunities and skills remain at the centre of its energy-efficiency projects.
