People on plumbing courses in Scotland could soon be in high demand as a cultural change is taking place which sees people realising that by investing in energy-saving equipment, they are improving the value of their homes.
This is according Harry Mayers, who is the head of programme delivery for the Energy Saving Trust, an organisation focused on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
He said that making energy efficient choices can also make homeowners living costs less expensive.
His comments follow an announcement by the trust that interest-free loans of between £500 and £10,000 are available to householders in Scotland who want to implement measures such as insulation improvement, new boilers and renewable energy systems.
"Given that these are interest-free loans so you only pay back what you borrow, often the savings you achieve will meet the costs of the loan, so while you're paying back the loan you're almost cash neutral in many cases," stated Mr Mayers.
