The extension to Liverpool Airport that is to begin next month could offer employment opportunities to tradespersons who have taken electrician training courses.
It was revealed today (November 26th) that construction firm McLaren has been appointed as preferred bidder on the £6 million contract that will see 800 square feet of additional retail space and improved baggage-handling facilities added to the airport.
Chairman of the company Kevin Taylor announced his delight at being chosen to deliver the project.
"The extension to Liverpool John Lennon is a prestigious scheme and we look forward to building this major project which will make a huge difference for the millions of passengers who use the airport every year," he said.
Electricians could find themselves in demand to supply high-quality facilities within a building that sees so many people pass through and requires high standards at all times for security reasons.
McLaren currently turns over more than £135 million annually and has offices in Brentwood, Birmingham and Winchester.
