Workers who have taken plumbing training courses and live in the capital may have received a boost following a report published by the London Assembly.

The body revealed in the document that it is concerned deprived local residents could be overlooked in the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games.

It made an example of the fact that only four per cent of construction workers currently working on the Olympic Park site are made up of previously unemployed locals.

Committee chair Dee Doocey commented: "Time is running out and we are in real danger of missing a historic opportunity to transform some of Britain's most deprived communities."

It could be that the organisation's report ensures that firms in the region recognise the need to employ skilled local tradepersons such as plumbers, electricians and bricklayers.

The Olympic Games will take place in London in 2012 from July 27th to August 12th.
