Surely you all remember our Christmas enthusiast and carpentry instructor Tim, well he is back at it and has this time completed the London Marathon!
He certainly didn’t have his Christmas jumpers on for London Marathon, but he was in high spirits before the race after successful preparation and training. Everyone at Able Skills is very proud of Tim’s achievement in the London Marathon.
He ran a brilliant time of 03:17:10 and this time has qualified Tim to run again next year, if he wished to do so. This is a great time and he has done fantastically well to achieve this.
Tim ran for Parkinson’s UK charity, as a family member has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s about a year ago, so he decided he wanted to raise some money and raise awareness. Due to his big achievement he plans to run again next year for Parkinson’s UK and he even has a goal to beat this years’ time. It will be hard, but with Tim’s dedication to training he should do it with ease.
Every student at Able Skills will tell you about Tim’s dedication to his training, as each lunch break he would never sit back and relax, he would get his running gear on and go out running for an hour. In his bright yellow running gear he was hard to miss. In the rain, cold, wind and sun, Tim never let it stop him training.
Also, not forgetting his very well committed running partner, Richard, who is a gas and plumbing instructor at Able Skills. Richard would be a regular with Tim when he was training and was there to support Tim on the day in London
His own words about training were “I drove my wife mad training all the time, after work and at weekends I took time out to go running”.
Tim’s words of advice for future runners of the London Marathon was to put in the effort to train, because it will all pay off. He will go again next year and for the fantastic cause he will raise even more money for Parkinson’s UK.
For now though, Tim is back to giving his students excellent carpentry training as they go onto new careers in the industry.
