Electrical courses

Electrician Training at Able Skills.

How does this course work?

Step one is learning to become an electrician from scratch. The initial training program is 2-weeks of classroom-based theory and hands-on practical experience out in our training bays. We pride ourselves on giving students a great practical experience, during which they will in areas building various circuits and generally develop the skills that you will use on a daily basis out in the industry.

Step two is the 18th Edition also known as the latest wiring regulations or simply the regs. The regulations are the industry standard rules for all electrical installations. Within the 18th Edition book, it outlines the procedures for almost every installation you can think of and ensures that everybody working in the field understands how to implement safe installation and manipulation of electrical systems.

Step three is obtaining a level 2 award in Inspection and Testing. Which is an essential skill for aspiring domestic installers, being able to firstly inspect installations and then test it ensures that the installation is working as it should and acts as a means to identify any problems with your work...All installations should be checked at regular intervals to ensure that they are in satisfactory condition for continued use. Gaining this qualification not only helps you to fully understand testing, but it also provides you with a qualification and certificate to show you are competent to undertake the work.

Who else can take on this course?

This course is not just for those looking to solely become domestic installers. This course is open for anybody looking to get onto a competent person scheme, that includes traders that have been working out on the tools for a while, for example, plumbers and so on. Competent persons schemes were introduced by the UK Government to allow individuals and enterprises to self-certify that their work complies with the Building Regulations as an alternative to submitting a building notice or using an approved inspector.
