A recruitment expert has suggested companies could benefit from arranging more apprenticeships, which may lead to more attendees on plumbing courses.
Shagufta Mustafa, a spokesperson for the National Apprenticeship Service, pointed out that such programmes will see people trained in areas that employers need staff.
This suggests that an apprentice could be studying vocational qualifications such a plumbing courses while they work with a firm.
Ms Mustafa claimed that apprenticeships can be useful for people of all ages to develop their abilities in order to start in a new career.
"An apprenticeship not only equips them with the skills and experience they need, but also provides the opportunity to study for a qualification which is recognised by employers," she remarked.
A recent report by Age UK showed that the popularity of apprenticeship schemes and the training courses that go with them for the over-50s has ballooned in recent years, with more than 5,000 people from this demographic enrolled in such initiatives.
