We have been hard at work in the last few months improving our carpentry programmes and our carpentry centre. This is to make it a much better learning experience for students on our carpentry courses.
One of the biggest additions to our carpentry courses is some new course material that we have written for ourselves. This is to give our students a wider range and better quality of training.
They will be trained and assessed on the following areas of woodwork:
· Constructing studwork with opening
· Constructing and installing doorlining
· Hanging a door
· Fitting floor joists and installing floor coverings
· Installing and bracing trussed rafters
· Setting out and cutting a pair of common rafters
· Health and Safety in construction
· Fixing architraves and skirtings
· Constructing and fixing hatch linings
· Fitting locks and latches
Along with new course material we have also given our carpentry centre a makeover. With new bays and new equipment, it is allowing our students to get the most out of their carpentry courses. It is now edging towards completion and our students are already seeing the benefits.
We have a fantastic team of carpentry instructors now at our centre. They have all helped with the centre makeover and work extremely hard every day to give the best possible training, even if it requires staying later.
