Here at Able Skills, we do our best to ensure that we can provide electrical training to whoever wants to learn. After the lockdown period, it seems there are many people across the country thinking about their current position and looking into making a change of direction and possibly step into an entirely new career. Unfortunately, many of our electrician courses are now booked until the new year, however, we are now releasing dates for 2021 so that you can put this year behind you and start training in the new year! Let's take a look at what you'll gain from this City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Course and what dates are available...
What will I learn?
This City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Course is the ultimate starting point for anybody considering a new career in electrics. As a new entrant to this industry, this course is a perfect choice. Over 7-weeks this programme of learning will form a foundation of theoretical knowledge and practical experience aiming to give you a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the trade. Effectively this course will teach you to become an electrician from scratch. Looking at the basics of electrical installation and moving on over the weeks to more advanced aspects of the trade and generally a more broad look at the organisation and structure of the electrical industry within which these activities are carried out.
As you can see in the video above our workshops are equipped with all of the tools, equipment, materials and appliances you could possibly need to learn and develop your practical ability. Our instructors are experts in the trade and will be there to guide you throughout your training, answer any questions, provide feedback and advice. We are maintaining social distancing within our electrical workshops as it stands, ensuring students are using separate equipment, having only one student per bay and overall reduced class sizes, as well as PPE and hand sanitiser, is available throughout the centre.

What dates are available?
The current dates that we have available to book on this Level 2 City & Guilds qualification are for the 1st of March 2021 - That's the first day of the month and will be 7-weeks from that date on a Monday - Friday basis! You can book this course in one of three ways. Firstly, you can simply give us a call on 01322 280 202 we are happy to answer any questions that you have about the course, provide advice and secure your place on the course over the phone. Secondly, you are completely welcome to pay us a visit in person, our office door is always open to aspiring traders, no need to call ahead or make an appointment you can simply come in and talk to a member of staff and book a course. Finally, you can book a course with us online, simply follow the links throughout this article or find the course you're interested in on our site and look for the button marked 'Reserve your Space' from there you can select a date that suits you and fill out some basic information.
What would be next?
Upon completion of this qualification, you will not be ready for work, however, you will now have a really good foundation to work from, the next logical step on your path to professional work in the trade is our City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Course - This course is an additional 7-weeks of training building on your new-found understanding and adding more complicated theory and practical tasks to the mix, such as; principles of electrical Science, fault Diagnosis and much more.
Additionally, as an aspiring electrician, you'll need to understand the way that installations should be carried out as the industry sees fit. The industry standard is known as the wiring regulations. Our 18th Edition course is a 5-day program, entirely theory focused and will help you to gain familiarity with the layout, content and application of BS 7671:2018 - 18th Edition Regulations. You will also want to understand portable appliance testing, We offer a variety of PAT testing courses at Able Skills in an attempt to cover the requirements of both experienced electricians and those with non-electrical backgrounds.

If you live a considerable distance from our training centre then you may be thinking about organising accommodation for the duration of your electrician courses...We actually have our own accommodation available exclusively for our students located just a short walking distance from our centre. Our accommodation can be booked at the reasonable price of just £20 per night! - If you are interested in securing certain dates make sure to contact us well ahead of time as spaces are limited!
