A new training centre for people who are looking to obtain gas and plumbing qualifications could help cater for demand in Merseyside.
The Liverpool Echo reported that the new plumbing and gas centre has been opened at Wirral Metropolitan College in Bromborough and will train students between the ages of 14 and 60 from beginners to NVQ Level 3.
Students Shaun McEvoy and Kevin Disley were on hand to unveil a commemorative plaque along with Wirral's lord mayor.
According to Mike Potter, principal of the college, there has not previously been enough training to meet demand for plumbing qualifications in the region.
Insurer Aviva recently commented that qualified plumbers could be needed as the temperature drops, as the number of claims for water damage or frozen pipes tend to increase as the weather gets cooler.
Aviva's property claims manager Paul Redington commented that it is essential that plumbers working on new-build properties take care to properly test all systems before they go live.
