There may be more people considering plumbing courses after the recession, as one source has suggested an increasing number of Brits want to be their own boss.
Stuart Curtis, head of commercial business insurance at Lloyds TSB Insurance, pointed out that many individuals have spent time rethinking their career after the economic downturn.
He explained that there is a growing trend for people to start their own firm from their home, which could be an option for tradesmen who have completed plumbing courses.
Mr Curtis said: "The motive behind these home-business start-ups for the majority of people is a desire to be their own boss."
In his opinion, it is vital such workers do not cut corners in terms of insurance cover, ensuring their equipment and stock is fully covered.
The Lloyds TSB Insurance representative's comments were made following research showing 5.9 million businesses in the UK are located in a home.
