Workers who have taken plumbing training courses could be needed to help implement the boiler scrappage scheme in Scotland.
It was announced yesterday (February 3rd) that the Scottish parliament have approved the spending plans outlined in the Scottish government's Budget for this year.
And the proposals have a clear green emphasis, with investment being set aside to support a boiler scrappage scheme in the country as part of the Scottish Energy Efficiency Action Plan due for publication in the spring.
The initiative was recently launched by the UK government and aims to improve the energy efficiency of homes and cut carbon emissions by offering grants to Britons who want to replace their old boiler for a new eco-friendly device.
In addition, £10 million is to be invested in the Home Insulation Scheme, which will offer insulation measures to around 90,000 properties across the country.
Finance secretary John Swinney commented: "I am presenting to Parliament a budget that meets the needs of the people of Scotland, addressing the economic and financial challenges we face and supporting our frontline services."
