Graduates of plumbing courses may get plenty of work in the coming weeks, with a significant number of people planning to renovate their properties.
According to research by HSBC, 40 per cent of householders intend to take advantage of the upcoming bank holiday weekends to carry out some home improvement work.
The installation of new bathrooms and kitchens were listed among the top ten most popular jobs to be carried out, in seventh and eighth position respectively.
HSBC's head of mortgages Stuart Beattie noted that the long weekends provide "a great opportunity for homeowners to make improvements to their properties".
But he warned consumers to be selfish with their changes and do stuff that they want, as trying to add value to the home will not necessarily work.
The research follows figures from moneysupermarket.com, which also found that a significant number of householders plan to make home improvements over the bank holidays.
