Experienced Plumber? Come and gain an NVQ!
We host a range of plumbing courses here at Able Skills - If you are already and experienced plumber but you have never achieved an NVQ then you are in the right place! We can help you to complete a National Vocational Qualification with the help of our plumbing assessors. Because you already have experience working as a plumber you will be on our experienced worker route which can be completed over just two on-site visits! Make the new year of 2020 a time for achievements and hard work.
This is an example of a Blue CSCS card which can be gained via completing a Level 2 NVQ in Plumbing.
To complete the NVQ you will need to establish and prove your competence in the following areas if the trade:
- Maintain the Safe Working Environment when Undertaking Work Activities.
- Maintain Effective Plumbing Working Relationships.
- Contribute to the Improvement of the Plumbing Work Environment.
- Install Non-complex Plumbing Systems and Components.
- Decommission Non-complex Plumbing Systems.
- Maintain Non-complex Plumbing Systems and Components.
What is an NVQ?
In simple terms it is an on-site test of competency, and it means that a qualified person has witnessed you carryout a variety of tasks up to a good standard. Which means, yes, to complete one you will need to be in employment. Candidates need to demonstrate that they have the suitable skills, knowledge and understanding to carry out the tasks associated with their job role. You cannot fail an NVQ. You are either classed as competent, or not yet competent; which means you would need to provide additional or further evidence over a period of time.
