An online source has suggested the jobs achieved by people who take vocational training such as plumbing courses can often lead to better salaries than other more conventional qualifications.

This is the view of Iampav, who posted a reply to an Independent article on the newspaper's website, saying that vocational education has in the past been incorrectly categorised as being "easy" qualifications to complete.

The writer suggested that GCSEs, A-levels and degrees can sometimes be taken more seriously than plumbing courses, even though the latter has the potential to deliver a more profitable career.

"I say it's vocational study that demands reform, to be seen as not just a serious alternative, but also a potentially more profitable one," remarked Iampav.

These comments were made in response to a piece calling for a review of the way university degrees are funded.

Recently, notgoingtouni.co.uk spokesperson Sarah Clover suggested companies could achieve greater loyalty from their staff by sending them on work-related training courses.
