A home improvement expert has claimed DIY has never been as popular as it is currently, which could inspire higher enrolment levels on plumbing courses.
Anna-Marie Desouza, editor at Build It magazine, explained there is a real desire among homeowners to turn their property into a place that they can stay in for the rest of their life.
In her opinion, there are more people than ever becoming interested in spending their time and money on home DIY, which could lead to greater demand for plumbing courses.
She claimed the popularity of home improvement is at an "all-time high" and pointed to the number of books and television programmes devoted to the topic as evidence of this trend.
Regarding DIY sales, Ms Desouza remarked: "There is always a slight slump over the coldest months. However, people really are investing in their homes at the moment."
Her comments were made in response to research by HSBC showing 73 per cent of Brits would be happier to mend items and continue using them currently than they would have been last year.
