A new boiler scrappage scheme being implemented in Scotland could lead to more people enrolling on plumbing courses, as one industry official has stressed the importance of getting a qualified professional to carry out the improvement.
Chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering Blane Judd made his comments after the Scottish government revealed that it will be offering up to 5,000 households in the country £400 to help pay for a new boiler.
"What I would really like to stress is that it is essential that consumers make sure they get the installation done by somebody who is properly competent," noted Mr Judd.
He highlighted how it is vital that the person carrying out the procedure has completed the correct plumbing courses, since that way the homeowner will have the system correctly fitted and will enjoy the financial benefits that this entails.
The industry official predicted that many people will apply to take part in the scheme when it comes into effect.
