Tradespersons who have taken electrical or plumbing courses might be needed to implement the work outlined in a new contract awarded to Mears.
According to the social housing repairs and maintenance provider, it has agreed a deal with the London Borough of Lambeth to supply repairs, void refurbishment, decent homes and estate management.
The contract will last for seven years, with a possible extension of three years depending on performance and is thought to be worth approximately £170 million.
Chairman of the company Bob Holt commented on the news by saying: "The tenant-centric service is set to improve their lives and the community in which they live. We look forward to serving the tenants of Lambeth for many years to come."
He added that the firm's housing bid pipelines is currently "extremely healthy".
And this new deal may well highlight the importance of workers who have taken electrical or plumbing courses to the wider community, by underlining how much they are needed to carry out repair work in domestic properties.
