Plumbing training offers fantastic career opportunities within the industry and lots of people across the UK are deciding to retrain and become Plumbers. In an industry where Plumbers are high in demand it’s given the chance for lots of people to begin a new career and start again.
Able Skills offer various plumbing courses to allow our students to gain the skills and qualifications they need to start a new career as a Plumber. We also offer gas training courses that allows our students to further their knowledge and gain more qualifications.
When training as a Plumber you need to make sure you are taking the right course ad achieving the right qualifications. Our City & Guilds Plumbing Courses are highly thought of in the plumbing industry and are most well-known to employers.
We have three different routes for our students to take to achieve the initial Level 2 Plumbing qualification. Our different routes allow our students to have flexibility in their learning and to take the best route that fits in with their life. Here are all three main routes:
Full-time City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course
This is the standard level 2 course that is run over six consecutive weeks. Training is from Monday – Friday for the whole six weeks where the plumbing students will carry out a variation of theory and practical based training, along with online exams and practical assessments.
Once the course is complete some students will stay at Able Skills and complete the Gas Managed Learning Programme and some students will use their new skills to go out and start working. Also, some students may even book the level 3 course.
Weekend City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course
This is the same as the standard course, however, this takes a little longer to complete. Our weekend option is extremely popular as it allows our students to continue working whilst they train at the same time.
The level 2 plumbing course will run two weekends each month and involves theory and practical training with practical assessments and online exams.
Home Study City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course
Our home study option is slightly different to the previous two. The home study means that our students will complete all theory work at home in their own time and when they feel ready they will book a week of practical training.
Altogether four weeks of practical training is required and several online exams. This option is perfect for people that do not have the time to commit to a long training course and for those that learn better working alone.
Our current group of City & Guilds home study students have been working hard this week and have been putting their new skills to work during the practical weeks. Here they are carrying out some pipe work:
We have also had a new Level 2 Plumbing Course start this week for the next six weeks and they have all made a great start to their new course. Many of them will now be moving onto our gas programmes after their course.
All three routes have become very popular as Plumbers have become higher in demand. You can book our plumbing training courses today for a 2017 start on 01322 280202.
