Those planning to embark on a plumbing training course might be interested in the commentary of one industry specialist, who believes that improvements to existing stock can make a difference to individuals' lives.
Guy Wakeley, chief executive of social housing repairs and maintenance provider Morrison, said that his firm has seen first-hand the benefit that such modifications can bring, in terms of the positive impact on communities and the numerous financial rewards.
His comments follow the publication of a report by the Audit Commission entitled Building Better Lives, in which it was announced that 94 per cent of councils are prioritising the need for new social housing over enhancing existing housing stock.
"The importance of improving and maintaining existing social housing stock cannot be underestimated," he stated.
This news comes after the British Property Federation recently asserted that government action is not currently achieving the kind of results that the housing industry needs.
