Technicians who have taken plumbing courses could be affected by legal reforms proposed by business secretary Vince Cable, if Pimlico Plumbers chief Charlie Mullins's comments are anything to go by.
The entrepreneur backed the amendments to the law, explaining that he puts his reputation on the line every time he hires someone to wear one of his company's uniforms.
Mr Mullins claimed the reforms, which would make it easier for businesses to fire workers who have been with a company for under two years, are a positive move if it allows him to give jobs to the people that deserve employment.
This news could prompt tradesmen to take plumbing courses to improve their skills and avoid giving their bosses reasons to dismiss them.
"In this climate employers need the kind of people who we believe will be good for our businesses - this is just common sense," added the Pimlico Plumbers founder.
Mr Mullins was one of several businessmen who recently came together to support a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of carbon monoxide.
