Tradespersons who have taken accredited training courses could come to the rescue of a large proportion of British males who cannot carry out simple DIY tasks, according to Screwfix.
Recent research by the home improvement product firm found that 60 per cent of men in the country hate DIY, while 13 per cent find it difficult to change a lightbulb and 20 per cent have hit a pipe will drilling.
In addition, two-thirds of males would not even want to try carrying out electrical or plumbing tasks without knowing what to do first.
However, a spokesperson for the firm commented that qualified workers could save the day.
''The good news is that there are tradesmen on hand," he said, before adding: "This poll gives some very good reasons to hire tradesmen if you're not sure how to go about home improvements."
