The skills learned by technicians who have attended an electrical course may be required by homeowners, it has been suggested.
Anna-Marie DeSouza, editor at Build It magazine, pointed out that there are plenty of people deciding to improve their current home rather than move to another property.
She noted that this has led to a surge in activity in the DIY market, but she stressed that some of the more "precise" tasks may be best left to professionals who have undertaken training, such as an electrical course.
"Homemaking is having a revival at the moment, so there's nothing trendier than partaking in a bit of DIY or mending and replacing something," said Ms DeSouza.
In her opinion, improving a house is not only satisfying, but it can also add value to a property and make it nicer to live in.
These remarks were made in response to a study by Everest, which found that 18 million Britons are set to undertake some form of DIY over the next year.
