Plumbing course attendees are likely to have had a busy December if one tradesman's experiences are anything to go by.
Speaking to the Scunthorpe Telegraph, engineer Stephen Alvy revealed the only day he had off throughout the whole month was Christmas Day.
He explained that all the issues he had to deal with in December related to burst pipes and urged homeowners to speak to technicians with plumbing course qualifications about getting their insulation systems upgraded.
Mr Alvy was quoted as saying: "One of the main causes to pipes bursting is the lack of insulation on them and the water tank in loft spaces."
The publication went on to say that Anglican Water has seen more than 800 reports of burst pipes in the Lincolnshire area alone in recent weeks.
This week, a school in Scarborough had to be closed because a burst water pipe caused the ceiling to collapse, according to BBC News.
