Qualified plumber? It's time to add Gas to your arsenal!
When working as a plumber you will often notice that many plumbers eventually become efficient in the trade of gas later in their career. This is a route that a lot of professional plumbers take - The reason is simple, you will have double the opportunity for more work and earnings. Gas is a very similar trade to plumbing in many ways, for example, pipe-work and much more. We have noticed over the years that students on our plumbing courses will often return to learn the trade of gas so we devised our Qualified Plumber Gas Training Packages! - Today we will talk about what these courses are and how to get involved!
Today we will take a look at Qualified Plumber Gas Training Package 2 as it includes all of the elements you need to begin working this trade. This package of gas training, portfolio placement and assessment is for new entrants to the gas industry that already hold plumbing qualifications such as our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing. The course is a real mix of workshop and classroom study to ensure that all aspects of domestic gas and related appliances are covered. Our talented instructors will be there to guide you the entire way through the 5-weeks of training, giving demonstrations, setting practical tasks and providing feedback along the way so that you develop into an aware and confident engineer. This package is made up of 3-parts:
- 5-weeks of training
- Portfolio completion
- ACS
Portfolio completion is a necessary step in becoming a qualified Gas Engineer. To complete it, you will need to work alongside an already qualified and 'Gas Safe Registered' engineer. You will need to collect evidence to prove that you have understood what you have learnt and can now carry out gas work to a good standard supported by photographic evidence and signed by your Gas Safe registered Engineer.
The final part is ACS also known as Accredited Certification Scheme. Which is the industry recognised and accepted route for experienced gas operatives to gain the certificate of competence needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. This is a gas safety test of sort and will be specific to you (determined by the evidence in your work based portfolio). Able Skills is approved by BPEC for the purposes of Gas Assessment and successful candidates will receive certification for their CCN1 and Appliances from Bpec. After completing this the only step you will need to take to begin working out in the industry is becoming 'Gas Safe Registered'.
