Electricians and plumbers who have taken approved training courses could find themselves in demand to supply high-quality services during two new construction projects.
It was revealed yesterday (December 17th) that construction firm Kier has been appointed on two education contracts worth more than £90 million in total.
The company will construct three Church of England academy buildings - the Grace Darling, William Leech and Josephine Butler campuses in Northumberland - which are all expected to be completed before winter 2011.
In addition, Kier is part of a consortium called Equitix, which will deliver two new schools for Cambridgeshire County Council.
Group chief executive John Dodds commented: "We are delighted to have been chosen to take these projects forward, cementing our position as one of the country's major builders of education infrastructure."
Kier has more than 50 offices nationwide, employs over 11,000 people and takes in an annual revenue of close to £2.4 billion.
