Demand for renewable energy courses in the Berwickshire port town of Eyemouth could soon grow, as a local MP is aiming to see that the area is involved in the development of green power facilities along the North Sea coast.
Michael Moore, the Liberal Democrat MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, is aware of the value of the area's natural resources in terms of green energy and wants the destination to benefit from its position.
Berwickshire News explained that Eyemouth's fishing sector is struggling and the town would be well placed for wind farm developments, which could prompt interest in renewable energy courses in the area.
Scottish energy minister Jim Mather recently noted that a European Commission document identified the North Sea as a key region for green power, adding: "Scotland will be at the heart of plans to deliver a North Sea offshore grid to interconnect European electricity networks."
He described it as "vital" that the country harnesses the renewable energy at its disposal.
