A new arrangement signed by representatives from the British Isles, Ireland, The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man could prompt more tradesmen to consider renewable energy courses.
Energy minister in the UK Charles Hendry claimed optimising the natural green energy sources that the cluster of islands boasts will benefit all parties.
The key aim of the deal will be to encourage developers to exploit opportunities for generation and transmission of power, while also improving the security of the supply.
Mr Hendry said: "There is a massive potential source of clean, green, secure energy that remains untapped in the Irish Sea and onshore in Ireland, as well as around the Channel Islands."
The MP went on to note that it "makes much more sense" for all of the islands to work to a common goal.
