There could be more demand for gas courses soon after the Scottish government advised that people wanting to take part in its boiler scrappage scheme must use a registered professional.
Starting from May 24th, up to 5,000 households will be able to apply for a grant of £400 to go towards the cost of a new boiler if it is a category G product in the SEBUK listing and converts less than 70 per cent of fuel into heat when it is in operation.
Engineers may soon be signing up to gas courses, since it has been advised that professionals must be registered with Gas Safe for them to carry out the installation of such equipment.
"Through the boiler scrappage scheme, we will help people replace inefficient old boilers for new energy-saving models and importantly, put money back in the pockets of householders," explained housing and communities minister Alex Neil.
Gas Safe is the official organisation dealing with gas safety issues in the UK, as well as Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
