We have talked about the skills gap before, mostly about its effects on the construction industry. However, it is also affecting the Gas industry. There is currently a shortage of Gas Engineers in the UK which means that the industry is struggling to keep up with demand. There is an ageing workforce in this industry, with half of the gas engineers reaching retirement age in the next 10 years. We need more young people to get involved with the trade! Due to the skills shortage, there are great opportunities for engineers currently and they are even seeing huge pay increases, so its the perfect time to get stuck in with Gas courses!

If you are looking to get involved with Gas training courses then look no further! We have devised training programmes designed especially for new entrants to the industry. For example, our New Entrant Gas Training Package 2 includes everything you need to start out; 7-weeks of hand-on learning, portfolio completion and an ACS assessment - all of which are required to become a Gas Safe Engineer.
This 7-week package of learning will include:
- Training on aspects of health and safety-relevant within the gas industry, including asbestos awareness
- Training to work safely around electrical systems
- Training in the use of copper and low carbon steel so that your pipe skills are established at an acceptable standard.
- Training on heating controls, Airing cupboard and radiator installation practices
- Training in all areas of domestic gas safety
