Companies should take the time to ensure the wellbeing of their staff is a top priority, in news that could be of importance to those businesses offering electrical courses and other training opportunities to their workforce.
Debbie Meech, people director at Cable&Wireless Worldwide, said the stress of the recession has meant that companies need to be more vigilant than ever that their employees are not feeling the strain.
She commented: "Health awareness sessions on various topics, on-site nurses for a day, childcare, private medical insurance or an assistance line are just some of the available solutions."
Ms Meech added that the economic downturn has been especially hard on those on lower incomes.
The GfK NOP International Employee Engagement Survey 2011 revealed that 40 per cent of UK employees aged 18 to 29 and 24 per cent of those in their 60s feel frequently or always stressed at work.
