Top hand tool brand, Stanley, has acknowledged the advent of the smartphone and tablet era with the introduction of a redesigned version of its level app, specifically tailored for the very latest iPhones and iPads.
The app is available through the Apple App Store and gives people almost the same degree of accuracy that they are accustomed to with traditional Stanley levels. Todd Langston, Stanley’s director of brand marketing, said that no sector of industry could afford to be left behind on the steady march of mobile technology.
“With over five million iPhone 5s sold in its first weekend alone, we are excited to offer our customers a revamped app compatible with features like Retina™ display,” he said.
The app is ideal for simple jobs, such as hanging pictures and installing shelves, and is ideal for when a conventional level is not at hand.
Langston added, “Convenient and portable, it’s a must have app for everyone from the professional contractor to the novice DIY-er.”
The app uses the accelerometer and digital gyroscope technology that are included in certain models of the devices, which understand where the phone or table is in space. Following initial calibration, the ‘bubble’ on the app will read an angle up to 90 degrees and clearly indicate when it has reached zero.
