Student Stories: Keith has changed his career from a primary school teacher to a Tiler.
All our student stories here at Able Skills start at a different place and all have a different ending, however, training at Able Skills is something they all have in common. Keith is no different and a few years ago he decided it was time for a change of career.
Only a couple of years ago Keith was a primary school teacher and was going by his everyday life as usual until he decided he wanted to go in a different direction. He began working self-employed as a Decorator after getting some skills decorating his whole flat a few years earlier.
Keith then got asked about some tiling work and he realised that could be another path for him to go down. Straight away he booked onto the Introduction to Tiling Course at Able Skills last February and he hasn’t looked back since.
After completing more and more tiling jobs over the last year, Keith wanted to come back to Able Skills and learn some more. It wasn’t long until he was beginning the NVQ Level 2 Tiling Course at Able Skills.
Since making the switch from decorating to tiling, Keith has been much happier and has really enjoyed his work. He is now coming towards the end of his tiling course and is soon completing a week of plastering training and a week of plumbing training. The reason for this is so he can complete full bathroom installs and offer more advanced work.
Keith has been ‘over the moon’ with his training at Able Skills and has described both Max and Terry as brilliant instructors. He also said it is the best training centre around.
Being based in Bethnal Green has made it very accessible for Keith to train and travel to our centre every day. He is very much looking forward to beginning and advancing his new career in the London area.
