Able Skills student Gavin has just finished his City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course with us. We caught up with him to find out why he was doing the course, how he's found the experience and why he chose Able Skills.
This is the latest in our student stories, where we interview current and former Able Skills students to find out more about their reasons for learning a construction trade skill and what they plan to do once they’ve completed their training. You can read all the student stories’ articles here.
What’s your name and what course are you currently doing?
“Hi, I'm Gavin and I'm doing the Level 2 Plumbing.”
Is there a specific reason you chose the Level 2 Plumbing course?
“I'm doing the course really because I needed a mechanical qualification for my work as I've just taken another role as a supervisor.”
Have you had any experience in plumbing before doing this level 2 plumbing course?
“I have been doing a bit of plumbing on and off over the years, so I thought why not get a formal qualification at the same time.”
How have you found the course and the instruction?
“I found the course very, very intensive. It's hard going. It's a six-week course but the instructors really know their stuff and everybody at Able Skills makes you welcome and is able to answer any of your questions, so it's perfect. “
What made you choose Able Skills as your construction training provider?
“I chose Able Skills because I was doing a web search and based on the recommendations from people that have used Able Skills before, they seemed like a really good choice. And secondly to that that they're not too far from where I live.”
Plumbing courses at Able Skills
The Able Skills City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course is aimed at anyone wanting to start their journey towards becoming a qualified plumber.
It’s perfect for beginners, but it’s also a great option for anyone who’s done a bit of plumbing and wants to formalise their skills with more extensive knowledge and gain an industry-recognised qualification.
During this six-week plumbing course, you’ll learn the basics of all domestic plumbing. As the course is a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification, you could consider an NVQ, or add-on plumbing courses such as Water Regulations or Energy Efficiency for additional skills once you’ve completed the course.
