The process of becoming a professional plumber can be daunting, however, here at Able Skills we try to make the time spent here not only educational to the highest degree but also enjoyable, understandable and clear. We have instructors working here that have years of experience working out in the industry for many years, they have no brought their expertise here to our training centre where they pass on their teaching to our students. Before you read on, ask yourself; Do I have any experience in plumbing? If the answer is no then we recommend that you first take our Introduction to Plumbing course - This course will provide you with the fundamental basics of the trade over a period of 5-days and an opportunity to realise if the trade is really for you or not and or something you are willing to take on as a career. If the answer to the questions was yes, and you do have some previous experience, carrying out DIY at home and so on and you are comfortable in the absolute basics then you should be looking to take on our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course - This is the ultimate plumbing course and qualification for somebody looking to take the first step into the plumbing industry...
If you are interested in becoming a professional plumber but you haven't actually taken the time to be hand-on with plumbing equipment, tools and so on, then the Introduction to Plumbing course is a great way for you on a personal level to know if the trade is for you, not just that you understand the basics learnt, but that you enjoy it and could see yourself doing this type of work on a daily basis. Switching careers is a big deal and not something that you should rush into...If you have thought about a few trades maybe becoming and electrician or a carpenter, for example, then maybe taking some 5-day introduction classes wouldn't be a bad idea.
During this 5 day domestic plumbing course you will learn:
- Plumbing systems and fittings
- Soldering techniques
- Jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
- Dealing with valves, taps, cisterns
- Plumbing pipework
