Able Skills now has 2 Electrical Training Centre's which has enabled us to separate our 'Domestic Electrics' from the more technical areas. We have been teaching Electrical based courses for 5 years now and we have finally reached the stage where we have a 'Technical Centre of Excellence' and a Centre dedicated solely to the demands of Part P and those looking to test the water and introduce themselves to the world of Electric Installations.
Our Technical Centre will concentrate on the delivery of City & Guilds 2330 at levels 2 and 3, City & Guilds 2382 - Wiring Regulations, City & Guilds 2392 - Fundamental Inspection and Testing, City & Guilds 2391 - Inspection and Testing and City & Guilds 2377 Portable Appliance Testing.
The Centre is equipped with workshops which most Colleges would kill for! 30 working bays in total!, 3 classrooms and a Computer Suite for those dreaded but essential On-Line exams. The staff in place have been recruited from various places and we are confident that we have sought out the best there is, individuals who are passionate about their trade and more importantly, passionate about passing on their knowledge to others and reflected in their teaching skills.
We have Assessors and Internal Verifiers around the clock to ensure that everything is in place to provide a smooth journey in whichever course you choose and also to guide you in the right direction with regards to relevant work requirements, progression qualifications and development. We also have a team of NVQ Assessors and although we cannot yet cover the whole of the UK, that eventually will be the aim!
Our Domestic Electrics Centre will prepare people for the industry, giving them a taste of what they can expect if they decide to move full time into Domestic Electrics or even if the choice is to become a fully qualified Electrician. We will predominantly be covering Part P within this Centre and at present, we are accredited by EAL to provide training and assessment to achieve the Domestic Electricians VRQ at level 2: the required qualification to register onto a Part P scheme.
The Centre has 15 working bays which will enable the student to run ring mains and lighting circuits and every aspect of wiring relating to a domestic dwelling before retiring to the classroom to be taught the theory behind the practical skills, with the emphasis being on building regulations to satisfy Part P requirements.
We are very pleased with the progression at Able Skills and we have only been able to make this move because of the continued interest and support from our customers, most of whom have become friends although quite a few have been like tenants as they embarked on so many long term courses with us!Able Skills will continue to meet the demand of the industry and provide realistic training in a realistic environment at realistic prices.
