Plumbers who have accredited qualifications and have taken relevant training courses could be extremely important in helping London avoid damage from floods in the next few decades, according to IQ Plumbing.
The company reacted to the government's perceived lack of action since a report published by the Greater London Authority in 2002 that suggested the capital could be threatened by urban floods, for which there is no warning policy or systematic risk assessment.
IQ Plumbing's Steve Roos commented that despite this report, nothing has been done about the drainage systems that are believed to be insufficient to deal with the danger of floods.
He said: "It has now fallen to companies such as ours to provide greater drainage infrastructure and sewage reinforcement to our clients to ensure that their systems are safe and sound should a flood occur in the capital."
The business specialises in supplying round-the-clock, rapid response and emergency technicians for all kinds of drainage and plumbing problems.
