Those currently undertaking plumbing training may be interested to hear about the development of a project currently underway in Accrington.
United Utilities is working to replace the existing sewer system near Mount Carmel High School, as houses in the area have been regularly flooded by waste water for several years.
To combat the problem, a new underground storage tank is being built which, upon completion, will be capable of holding 600 cubic metres of sewerage water.
As the project progresses, open-cut excavations will replace old sewer and manhole covers and it is thought that this could take until the second week of December to finish.
United Utilities spokesperson Shaun Robinson said: "We anticipate this phase of highway work will be the most disruptive to local residents, as we will need to close off roads for health and safety reasons."
It seems as though those with plumbing training are having a busy time of late, as a burst water pipe that has been plaguing Blackpool residents for months has now been repaired by United Utilities.
