Thoughts from students taking on Home-Study Electrician courses!

Although we are continuing to teach Electrician courses and operate as usual during this second lockdown - Home-Study courses here at Able Skills are becoming more and more popular with our students. It makes sense with all of us spending more time at home, thinking about new opportunities and new employment. Home-Study courses are exclusive to our training centre and allow candidates to learn the theory side of the trade from the comfort of your own home. once you have studied the theory side and feel confident in this knowledge you will contact us and book time to learn the practical side in our electrical workshops and time to complete the relevant assessments. How does the course work?

As the name suggests the Home-Study Level 2 course will start at home. We will send you our curated 'Home-Study Pack' that effectively will replace the instructor for the theory side of the qualification. Within the pack you will find all of the theory knowledge you need, presented in diagrams, definitions, formulas, calculations and much more. You will also find there are test questions in there for you to test yourself as you study. You can take as long as you would like, we typically recommend at least 6-weeks of studying. Once you feel confident that you've understood everything provided you'll want to contact us and book 4-weeks worth of practical training here at our centre for the practical side. These weeks can be chosen by you and should be separated as appose to 4-weeks straight. Let's take a look at what our most recent student had to say about this training option...

You are also welcome to visit our training centre in person, whilst here at our centre we can discuss the options available in more detail, provide guidance and even take you on a guided tour around our facilities so that you can see for yourself the great work that we do here. Our office is open 7-days-a-week between the hours of 8:30 - 16:30! We do ask at this time, if you are planning on visiting our centre, please be conscious of social distancing and wear a face covering whilst talking to our staff.

Live outside of the local area? If you are thinking about training with us but the distance is an issue, we actually offer accommodation to our students. All of our accommodation is within a short walking distance from the centre and has easy access to local amenities. The properties will provide you with your own fully furnished room with washing facilities and TV. There are several bathrooms/WCs as well as fully fitted kitchens and a dining areas to eat and/or meet your fellow students. Our accommodation can be booked for just £20 per night! - If you are interested make sure to to contact us ahead of your starting date as spaces are limited!
