It has been reported that thousands of homes across the UK have at least one unsafe gas appliance. This is extremely worrying and lots of people’s lives are being put a risk due to this.
The research carried out by the Gas Safe Register has said that more than one in five homes have at least one unsafe gas appliance within their property. Unsafe gas appliances can be very dangerous and even life threatening.
Many people across the UK are still unaware of the risks that come with unsafe gas appliances. The risks of unsafe gas work in a home can be explosions, gas leaks, carbon monoxide poisoning and fires. Therefore, it is extremely worrying that more than one in five of UK homes have an unsafe gas appliance.
Over the past few years, people who have carried out gas work illegally have been jailed or given huge fines because it is so dangerous. Carrying out gas work is illegal if you do not have the correct skills or qualifications because it could have serious consequences. The Gas Safe Register is now cracking down on people who carry out illegal and unsafe gas work.

UK homeowners need to make sure they are getting all their gas appliances checked by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. It has been reported that Brits are far too trusting in ‘gas engineers’ and do not bother to check if they are fully qualified and on the Gas Safe Register.
Making sure that all gas appliances are working safely in your home and getting them checked by a fully qualified Gas Safe Registered Engineer could be lifesaving.
