The Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELCAS) is a valuable initiative that helps to ensure military service leavers have the opportunity to build a new long-term career once their time in the forces comes to an end.
Launched by the Ministry of Defence as a way of enabling lifelong learning, the scheme offers financial support for up to three years’ worth of training. ELC funding can be used across a variety of sectors, as long as the qualification is Level 3 or above (or an international equivalent) and the training is delivered by an approved provider.
At Able Skills, we’re extremely proud to be an ELC-approved training centre and are passionate about helping service leavers take their first steps towards a new career path.
Several of our courses are eligible for ELC funding, including the Level 3 Certificate in Bathroom Installation Skills.
What does the course cover?
This six-week training course has been built by time-served experts to equip individuals with all the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge required to confidently complete a full bathroom installation.
The course is split into three core trades, with two-week blocks set out to cover plumbing, plastering and tiling. The training across all three trades will be primarily hands-on, though you will also be taught the essential theory of each skill to ensure you leave with a well-rounded understanding of all elements of bathroom installation.
Regular practical and theory assessments will be in place throughout to monitor and validate the progress you have made, before ultimately obtaining a nationally recognised AIM Qualification Level 3 Certificate in Bathroom Installation Skills upon the course’s completion.
Who would the course appeal to?
The Level 3 Certificate in Bathroom Installation Skills has primarily been designed to appeal to anyone considering a career in bathroom installation. Whether you hope to find work with a building company, bathroom manufacturer or are interested in setting up your own business, the course is a great way to take those first steps towards a career while gaining a formal qualification to reinforce your skills.
You may also find that you particularly enjoy one aspect of the learning and choose to pursue more advanced training in that trade, making the course a great gateway into plumbing, tiling or plastering as specific career paths.
For example, you could discover that plumbing is a skill you’d like to hone in on, so you opt to pursue a plumbing NVQ, which in turn could eventually lead you to also training in gas given the frequent crossovers between the two industries.
Able Skills’ Level 3 Certificate in Bathroom Installation Skills is eligible for ELC funding. You can find the latest information about ELCAS and the different eligibility criteria here.
