Interest in electrical courses could be set to rise, as an energy efficiency expert has noted that there is a significant variety of homes that need refurbishment, which may involve distinct skills.
Speaking at the recent Great British Refurb event, television presenter Kevin McCloud claimed that refurbishment of the UK's housing stock is "certainly" needed.
However, he noted the range of different styles of home in the UK varies significantly, which may mean that workers need to attend electrical courses to learn how to solve associated issues.
Mr McCloud suggested there is a window of about two years for carrying out the refurbishment and it is vital that it is done right.
"We have got to make sure that all ... the strategies that we have for retrofitting Britain's homes can be adaptable to every single type of house we have got," he added.
Last month, Chris Huhne, the energy and climate change secretary, said the government's Green Deal plans for improving energy efficiency in the UK could create up to 250,000 jobs in the country.
