Tradesmen who have completed electrical courses may be able to find employment on the site of the so-called Walkie Talkie building in London, as construction activity started on Monday (January 18th).
The 37-storey structure is set to be erected at 20 Fenchurch Street, EC3 in the capital by Land Securities, with the project expected to be completed in 2014.
Managing director of the company's London portfolio Robert Noel described the Rafael Vinoly-designed complex as being a future "landmark" for the city, with the expertise of engineers who have completed electrical courses likely to be required during the construction process.
"In starting work on [the building] with the Canary Wharf Group ... we begin an exciting journey that will bring together our complementary skills in development, leasing and construction," he added.
