Here at Able Skills we are now able to offer an online process for achieving your NVQ Level 3 qualification. This means that we are now able to help you to complete your National Vocational Qualification no matter where you are based in the UK. Of course to achieve an NVQ you must be judged on site, to do this we will use video conferencing software with complete guidance from one of our assessors throughout the process. Let's take a look at how this option would work and how to get started for yourself...
A Level 3 NVQ is an important qualification to gain if you're looking to apply for a JIB Gold Card. The card that solidifies your status in the electrical industry as being fully-qualified. Taking the course with us you will have full support and guidance from one of our Electrical Assessors, who will be readily available throughout. We hope that this option makes the process easier for you and the ability to complete both the assessment side and the portfolio online is useful.
How does this option work?
Step one would be a profiling session with one of our Electrical Assessors. This will be done remotely of course through video conferencing software and will include a discussion on what to expect from the process and just to check whether you have the right experience and qualifications to be moving onto an NVQ.

Step two is putting together you E-Portfolio through the Learning Assistant e-portfolio system with City & Guilds. you will need to put together different forms of evidence including things like; photographic evidence of work being undertaken, written evidence from whoever you are working aside, documents like risk assessments and so on.
You can access City and Guilds Learning Assistant through their website. There is also an application for both iPhone and Android for on-the-go use!

Step three will involve the actual Remote Site Observations meaning our assessor will want to watch, observe and judge your competency on the job, they will request this on a few separate occasions. You can do these video calls through a mobile, laptop or tablet.
They will be judging your ability against a set of criteria and the industry standard for practicing electricians. Our assessor will also want to speak with your supervisor and / or site manager to verify the work you have covered and provide act as witness to your competency.

Step four! Finally, in order to complete your Level 3 NVQ you will need to take on an AM2 Assessment. Here at our training centre in Dartford, Kent we have a dedicated AM2 centre, however, if you live a considerable distance from us your Assessor will guide you in the right direction towards a reputable centre that is local to you!
The assessment consists of a series of timed tasks in specially equipped booths containing typical electrical installation wiring systems. The exercises include installation, inspection and testing and fault-finding and the work must comply with the current IEE Wiring Regulations and be carried out in line with Health & Safety best practice.
