We are now offering remote Electrical NVQs across the country!
Today we would like to announce that if you are working as an Electrician and have been advised that you need to achieve NVQ Level 3, Able Skills can provide you with all aspects of the NVQ. Previously we would have sent one of our electrical assessors to your place of work to carry out the relevant inspections on two separate occasions to judge your work and ultimately help you through the process of completing this on-site qualification. However, we are now able to offer this service remotely using Video Conferencing Systems.
What is an NVQ?
An NVQ also known as a National Vocational Qualification is an assessment process. The NVQ is achieved via work/site based assessment and portfolio building and AM2. This is not a training course; it is an assessment of your competence and is mandatory for those of you who require JIB Gold Card status. Having a 'Gold card' means that within the industry you are seen as a fully-qualified electrician and is the stamp of approval for many professionals allowing you to work on most construction sites across the country.
What does this mean?
Well, previously we were restricted to work based assessments that are within 100-mile radius of Able Skills, here in Dartford, Kent but our move to making this process remote through video calls means that we can now conduct assessments anywhere in the country. So for those of you that have trained with us in the past or are interested in our services we are now available to you if you live a considerable distance from us. This also means that we have a safe alternative during this lockdown allowing you and our staff to feel comfortable during the process. finally this alternative will save us time meaning we can conduct more assessments more often.
The first step in the process is to undertake a profiling session with your Electrical NVQ Assessor where the processes for achieving an NVQ will be explained. These profiling sessions can now also be done through a video call making the process quicker and increasing the amount of students we can work with at any given time. To complete the process after the profiling session and the remote assessment's you will need to complete an AM2 assessment which is a practical assessment with a short online component - The exercises include installation, inspection and testing and fault-finding and the work must comply with the current IEE Wiring Regulations and be carried out in line with Health & Safety best practice.
