Wealdstone F.C. striker, Elliot Benyon is currently training at Able Skills to become a Painter and Decorator for his second job. Elliot is currently playing his football in the Conference South with Wealdstone F.C. and is also training at Able Skills in Dartford.
Now playing semi-pro football, Elliot used to play professionally for the likes of Torquay United, Swindon Town and Southend United. After playing professionally for over 10 years, Elliot is now playing semi-pro football at Wealdstone.
He is now lining up a second job whilst he continues to play. However, of course he had to do some training and he chose us at Able Skills in Dartford to complete a 5 week City & Guilds Painting & Decorating course.
Elliot is currently on his third week of training at Able Skills and so far he has thoroughly enjoyed his time with us. He can't believe how much he has learnt already and after only carrying out DIY jobs before hand he didn't realise how much there is to decorating.
So far, the course is going extremely well for Elliot and also his football season isn't going too badly either. He has scored four goals in five games already this season after signing for Wealdstone during the summer.
He is looking forward to finishing his course and getting his qualification so he can get out to work on days when he isn't playing or training.
We have students from all walks of life at Able Skills and it isn't every day that an ex professional footballer comes to train and get some skills in the construction industry.
It is never too late to try something new, even after over 10 years playing football Elliot is trying something brand new and gaining some new skills which he hopes to use in a new career along with his football career.
