Plumbing is a trade that is always growing, there are so many different avenues you can go down with these skills under your belt its a mystery why there is currently a skill gap in this trade. There is currently a huge demand for qualified plumbers, it is hard to see why...If you are considering a career in plumbing read on - we will outline our available plumbing courses and the jobs that these courses can lead towards!
Introduction to Plumbing:
Let's begin with our most basic of plumbing courses, Introduction to Plumbing. If you have no previous experience in this field, then this is the best place to start. The course is a 5-day intense, hands-on training programme that will give you a foundation of knowledge and ability to work from. Obviously you cannot begin working upon completion of this course but it will teach you the basics from which to develop...Plus you receive a City and Guilds certificate at the end.
During this 5-day domestic plumbing course you will learn:
- Plumbing systems and fittings
- Soldering techniques
- Jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
- Dealing with valves, taps, cisterns
- Plumbing pipework
City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course:
Now, gaining a qualification is what it's all about...Our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing Course is the absolute best way of gaining a qualification that can get you one step closer towards working on-site, domestic work, work for a company or self-employment. This is where you can gain some real training - the course is the best way to learn the trade taught by professionals, who have years of experience both teaching and working themselves out in the industry, they know the trade inside and out. The course is 6-weeks long, now if you're thing 'I'd love to take on this course but I don't have the time' don't worry, we have some alternative training methods set out for this particular course we know that everybody cannot take that amount of time away from an existing job or prior arrangements...
Weekend training, yes, that's right we offer this course on a part-time basis meaning that you can gain the exact same qualification over a series of weekends instead of being here at our training centre for a consecutive 6-weeks.
Home-study option, yes that's right we also have a home-study version of this course if you are strapped for time. This course will mean that you learn the theory part of the course in your own time. We will provide you with a 'home-study' pack and access to the online learning platform 'Smartscreen' - you will obviously have to come into our training centre to complete the practical learning portion of the course. These 4 separate weekly slots can be chosen to suit your availability.
NVQ Level 2 Plumbing Assessments:
If you are already working as a plumber but you have not achieved an NVQ then you're in luck, we have Able Skills assessors that can visit you at your place of work to establish your competence, give guidance on portfolio completion and help you on your way to achieving a Plumbing NVQ. To gain an NVQ you will need to be witnessed by an Able Skills assessor over 2 separate site visits, meaning that you will need to be employed in the field to achieve this qualification. - For more information about NVQ's see here!
