Why Choose a Career in Gas Engineering?
Here at Able Skills we teach a range of trades, one of which is Gas! Now, Gas courses are actually some of our most popular training courses but there is still a need for more students in this trade. Today we will be looking at a couple of reasons as to why you should consider a career in Gas Engineering!
Shortage of workers:
Firstly, there is a real shortage of skilled workers in this trade, which is beneficial for you - it means that there are more opportunities in terms of the amount of work that is out there for you to take. Plus the industry is always busy which means that those skilled workers are seeing a huge increase in their pay! talented and successful gas engineers can earn up to £50,000 a year and beyond! Of course, if you run your own business – a serious and very real option for many in the gas trade – your pay could significantly increase.
Challenging:
Secondly, if you are a person that enjoys problem solving and staying active while on the job then this kind of work is perfect for you! One day you may be working in a home on a small boiler and another you could be servicing an industrial heating system in a commercial environment - the job will keep you engaged and focused on the task at hand. If you have the problem of feeling bored in your current line of work then know that as a Gas Engineer you will be completely occupied whilst on the job!
Career not a job:
Finally, this type of work is not just a 'job' it's a career, you can develop over time and begin working on more large scale projects, basically, there are lots of avenues to go down the more you work this trade, more opportunists to earn money and earn stripes as an engineer. It’s also a secure profession and with legal regulations requiring people to hire ‘Gas Safe’ registered engineers to fix and service their boilers, your skills will always be in demand. Plus the prospect of being self-employed means that you can take control of your lifestyle if you want to take a holiday there is nobody to ask...You just do it and then earn back the money on your return, your earnings are in your own hands.
